The Project-Based Learning Collaborative (PBLC) is a California Math and Science Partnership Grant composed of a group of 6th-11th grade math and science teachers in Marin County. As a cohort of secondary teachers our mission is to embrace and implement best practices for implementing Common Core Mathematics and Next Generation Science Standards, using a Project-Based Learning framework. This is a three year journey we have embarked on to create classrooms where students think deeply about key math and science concepts, collaborating through inquiry, investigations and discourse to develop meaningful conjectures and to make sense of what they are learning. By the end of this program we will have created several Project-Based Units in which students can investigate multiple facets of Common Core and NGSS in a hands-on manner that directly engages their lives.
